Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell started working as a TV and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She served on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips along with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
